I truly enjoyed Running Away, not only because it seemed so real, and was so well written, but I could feel the struggle Robert went through. It’s more than just a book about running. It is one of those few books that you have to read straight through — and don’t want any interference while doing so!

Terrific. Fantastic. A hell of a book. In the best tradition of literary journalism, Robert Andrew Powell finds the story we’d missed in our own backyard, using the love of soccer to reveal the humanity that survives in hyper-violent Ciudad Juárez. This is the best sports non-fiction I’ve read in a long, long time.
Grant Wahl, New York Times bestselling author of The Beckham ExperimentA story that ultimately isn’t about youth football, but about American itself. … [Powell] reveals a city at war with itself and, more subtly, the country in which it flourishes.
